Today is My One-Year Blogaversary!

I started this blog about my garden exactly one year ago today, on Sept. 5, 2009. Here's a link to my first post, about the changes I wanted to make to the back garden. I included a series of pictures, and I thought in today's post I'd show those pictures again, along with new ones showing what the area looks like now.

So, here goes.

Well, my life in general hasn't changed much since then -- my son got married in October -- but the garden certainly changed a lot, didn't it? And I have still more planting to do!

  1. You've done an impressive amount of work in just a year. Your new areas are looking good already, and will be even more impressive as the plants fill out.

  4. Happy Blogiversary! I just loved seeing the changes in your yard. It's just beautiful, all the hard work has definitely been worth it. I really liked being able to see a little more of your pond too. Looking forward to seeing how much it changes by your second blogiversary.

  5. Alison, what a fun post, and so nice to see the 'before and afters'. I see lots of big rocks, too (so dear to my heart!) and your beautiful pond. You have done so much work and should be so proud!

  10. Oh, and congratulations on reaching a year with your blog! Finally, I wanted to email you in response to your comment on my post today. You don't have an email associated with blog, so I'll just write my answer here: Thanks so much for taking the time to write your "novel". I really needed it. As for the nature of the comments: you are terrible parents, your marriage will fall apart, you're doing this so Superman will have better job prospects?, etc., etc., etc. This first year has been tough because the money was barely better than Eastern Washington money (which, as you know, isn't good)...hopefully next year will be better. Our goals? Pay off debt, the house, and ride out this depression in the economy. There is no getting rich happening here. Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Not only did I appreciate, but I needed it!

Gardening is a solitary activity. But blogging about it is a social phenomenon! I don't make money from my blog by advertising, or use it to drive customers to a business. If you liked my post, or my writing or photography, or even just one picture or turn of phrase, I'd love to hear from you. That's how I get paid.
