Don't be fooled. Inside this thin coating of sweetness is a fiery core of total insanity.

Wednesday Vignette -- A Gaudy Good-Bye to Summer

I went to the Heronswood Fall sale this past weekend, meeting my buddy Peter The Outlaw Gardener there. We shopped and then toured the garden together. In the potager garden we found this garish combo of flowers. I love it, but some might not.

It was a lovely sunny day, but since then, Fall has come in with a roar -- the roar of falling water. It's been raining heavily off and on for the past 3 days.

  1. Well, that combo surely cuts through the most persistent of cloud covers - wow!

  2. It was so much fun spending time with you on Saturday! Love those gaudy colors but am not so fond of the constant rain. I'm ready for the return of sun and warmth.

  3. I've been told that pink and yellow don't go together but I disagree!

  4. I love that in-the-garden bouquet.
We have been on the Oregon coast, dodging rain squalls. I', hoping our yard got lots of rain and it will stop now for a while.

  5. Rain! I hope it puts an end to the fires and smoke. I'm all about the garish colors, as you well know, my garden is a kaleidoscope of mishmash with no rhyme or reason. :=)

  6. That brilliant color must be cheering on a cloudy day.

  7. Don't you love a good plant sale with a garden buddy? I hope you got yourself some new treasures. I'm not terribly fond of golden yellow but I love the pink aster. No surprise there, right?

Gardening is a solitary activity. But blogging about it is a social phenomenon! I don't make money from my blog by advertising, or use it to drive customers to a business. If you liked my post, or my writing or photography, or even just one picture or turn of phrase, I'd love to hear from you. That's how I get paid.
