A Few New Flowers

I spent Saturday careening around the Washington countryside again with Peter The Outlaw Gardener, going to a nursery, then the sale at Heronswood, then another nursery, and another...

But first thing on Saturday morning I made a quick round of the garden, looking for any new flowers since Bloom Day. There were a few.

The comfrey beside my compost pile is flowering much pinker than it did last year, when it was in the raised bed.

I almost missed seeing my Arum 'Jack Sprat' flower. The spathe is speckled like the leaves, and it was facing away from the path, so it looked like just another leaf.

This Ceanothus in the gravel garden has doubled in size since it was planted last spring

Spanish lavender and the golden foliage of Tanacetum parthenium 'Aureum'

Variegated sage in the gravel garden has also doubled in size since last year

I turn many of my pots without holes upside down so they don't fill with water, but they still add a nice textural element to the garden.

Ah well, time to haul my butt to Tacoma, and then Heronswood...
