Don't be fooled. Inside this thin coating of sweetness is a fiery core of total insanity.

Woodinville Garden Tour -- Foliage Followup

Pam Penick of Digging hosts Foliage Followup on the day after Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, for garden bloggers to focus on the foliage, rather than the blooms. I'm not showing any foliage from my own garden today. Instead, I'm showing foliage pictures from a garden tour that I took today, in Woodinville, WA -- the 12th Annual Tour of Gardens hosted by the Woodinville Garden Club.

Woodinville is home to one of the biggest and most impressive nurseries in western Washington -- Molbak's. Also, the city is a unique winery destination, home to more than half the wineries Northeast of Seattle. In fact, Woodinville is the site of a major wine-tasting event -- the Passport to Woodinville Weekend.

Anyway, without further ado, here are my foliage pics from the tour. Many of the plants, especially the conifers, didn't have tags, so I don't know names.

I love how on some conifers, the new growth is a different color, almost as good as flowers!

I found myself fascinated by this line of trees, all so different.

I thought this was one the most beautifully balanced borders in terms of foliage.

I thought it was very clever the way the gold foliage repeats in several spots, although none are the same plant.

I had to include this chicken topiary.

This interesting grass looks like it is made of fiber-optic cable.

Stipa tenuissima/Mexican feather grass

Golden Hops

This Japanese garden made great use of Japanese forest grass.

I have quite a few more pictures to share from the tour, of flowers and garden sculptures, but for now this will have to suffice.
