Even in the extreme heat we've had for the past week, and especially this weekend, where our temps went up into the low 90s, the cutting garden is producing well, but it's on an irrigation schedule, which I'm sure helps.

A nice counterpoint, I think, don 't you? |
I still have Eryngium 'Blue Glitter' out in the vase on the back porch, and those flowers have continued to mature and produce pollen and turn even bluer, as well as attract an abundance of bees and other pollinators. So I'm glad that even though I cut them, one unforeseen advantage of leaving them out on the porch is that they're still feeding the bugs.

Oh I do so love that Dahlia!! Thanks for sharing it with us again - I for one will not tire of it!
ReplyDeletePurple and orange/yellow are such a great combination and you've done it well! I love sweet peas and always buy seeds in the late winter which I forget to plant. That's it, next year they're going in! Really, I mean it this time.
ReplyDeleteA nice counterpoint indeed! That's a great dahlia and I'll be looking for it next year.
ReplyDeleteThose Dahlias are crazy cool! I'm jealous of your productive sweet peas, mine are doing nothing. Also, thanks for including the Larkspur. I always forget what it looks like and it's July's birth-flower (my b-day is later this week). I've always thought it should be Lilies, after all July IS Lily month.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, I love that color combination.
ReplyDeleteI love that totally Tangerine dahlia too. Bought it from Sarah Raven's collection. So many flowers despite the hot dry weather. Nice combination with the dark larkspurs.
ReplyDeleteTestament to your taste and gardening prowess...lovely.
ReplyDeleteOrange and purple work so well together - ‘totally’ love that dahlia!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors, and that dahlia!!
ReplyDeleteLove your color combination in the vase...Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo very lovely. You have inspired me to walk out and pick a few for a vase in the kitchen. I can enjoy them in the air conditioning. They always look better in a cool spot.

That last photo is a nice counterpoint! I hope to *cool* to the low 90's in the next week...that's our normal now.
ReplyDeleteThose colors really make each other pop. Can't get over your temps. Ugly.
