Wednesday Vignette

Today's Wednesday Vignette is a shot I took recently of a hoverfly. Hoverflies are bee mimics that also work as pollinators. In some species of hoverfly, the larvae are insectivorous and prey on aphids, thrips and other plant-devouring insects. You can read more about them and see some even better photos of them in this recent post by Gail at Clay and Limestone. Since it's Pollinator Week, I thought it might be appropriate to share my photo of one.
